Finally off for a day!!!

I'm finally off today. Wow what a long week. Its really a drain working night shift. I'm thankfull that Lil D has been out of school, so I don't have to try to keep up with his schedule too. Agh. We've been doing alot of fishing and will probably go again tomorrow. Give the nerd something to do for summer break. Its hard living so far from town, to keep him entertained. Tonight we are going to a friends to watch rodeo practice. That should be interesting... Pics to follow.

This pic is of lil d just messing around. Now he thinks he has super powers due to watching "Sky HIgh" A kids movie about super heros. Its actually a pretty cool movie.

I've signed up with a color swap and am so excited. I can't wait to get shopping. Its gonna be so fun. Oh yeah the pattern I was using for MONSTERS poncho turned out to be bogus. Two paralelograms that are exactly the same can not match up to make a poncho.. FROGGED it and now am starting over. Straight knit stich. Gotta get it done fast. Only have 2 days to finish knitting sew it and embelish it with the fun fur and then mail it. Talk about cutting it close. In fact I had better get off of here.:)

From left to right Well this #1pic is Monsters Poncho. I started making this one the other day and it has 30 stitiches. Unknown to me the pattern I chose to do to " mix it up " cause its the same color as Beans#3 So knit 3 border,k1,k2tog,yo1,k1,repeat til last 3k turn k3 purl accross k last 3 and it turned itself into this parralelogram how cute is that. It makes a natural cut of a poncho. #2 is for Didi-teal her favorite color. This is one I had made and it grew to an enormous size,it was too big for me... So after many tears ripped it out started over and Voila'. #3Beans started second and then put on hold till after the redo and then loking at the calendar noticed that her B-day was last in the row . So then on to Monsters which is still in progress.

I bought the yarn for the clapotis(shawl) that next on my list, but I think its the wrong color yarn Agh.

Well hello. We've been awfully busy. Working and LilD in karate Hes an orange belt right now. Second for the rank. Hes doing so well wont be long till the next one. We had a fun time fishing this summer. I've been doing alot of knitting. Two b-day ponchos done allready, and working on the last one the neices all have their b-days one after the other. Pics of work to follow soon gotta lay em out. finally got our computer working and got our pics off the camera.

Friday, July 14, 2006

Well we fishing again this time caught nothing. All the local lakes have lost too much water and we were pulling up weeds. AGH how frustrating. The only thing I did get was a tan. We even took the dogs with us. Oh what fun. They were actually very good. Lil D is really good a caasting out and even was hooking his own worms. What a little man. I'm back at work now Yipee!!!. Just plugging along. My sis Dink is going back to school. I'm so proud of her shes super smart and gonna be a great nurse. :) Well pictures of our fishing trip to follow as soon as I can get the home comp up and running, and download from the camera. Still working on BEANs poncho. And have yet to start on MONSTERS, gonna have to start hers now in order to get it done in time. Oh well I've got some days off I should be able to get it done pretty quick. I have joined a new knitting group and they make some strange french scarf called "CLAPOTIS" Its actually shaped like a paralelogram not rectangle and more wide. It should be interesting. Im trying to figure out what yarn to use. Color I want dark. Most that are so pretty are in and ombre( coregated) and silky yarn. budget is an issue so I'm gonna shop around. Well I had better get on going. Lunch is over

Friday, July 07, 2006

What a great 4th we had. Lil D was so excited. We have never been able to do fireworks. So he had a blast. Even if I say so myself we put on a pretty good show. Out in the middle of nowhere. On our driveway. Poor mom got smoked out. Weve just been hanging out and getting ready for more fishing. There is a local lake in our town so were gonna try it out. Lets see if I can beat the boys again. HAHA. Still working on BEANS poncho. Its soooo cute. I just really love to knit. Its so satisfying to start with a ball of yarn and really make something. Allright enough of that..
We've got to redo our garden some beast squirles got in and ate everything. So another layer of wire must go up. Its almost too last to grow anything, but we will try some squash and sunflowers and tomatoes that should be enough for the lil guy to enjoy. Big D is gonna start work after the 17th thank god cause hes going stir crazy. All is well on the homefront, later:)

Tuesday, July 04, 2006

Well its the fourth of july and its only 4pm and Lil D is begging to start the fireworks show. What a kid. How about the shuttle? doesn't matter how many times you see it, it still takes your breath away. What an amazing experience. Well its been pouring down and lightning storms here so we were worried we wouldn't get to do fireworks, Can you believe they are legal in a state of fire emergency. The local town is not even gonna do them, very disapointing. Well we got sparklers an snakes so that should entertain the lilguy especially since we are from an area in Cal where it was illegal so hes never had any except what was at Disneyland or the baseball game. Well I've gotta go the storms are kicking up and I'm gonna lose the satalite signal again. Hey Dink&UNC check out the changes I made. Is that better? Thanks for the eye opener love ya:)

Saturday, July 01, 2006

Well we went to ALB for my MRI and EMG. Oh what fun. The EMG they put these little needles in the muscles in my leg to see if they responded.DUH!!! If you can believe it the MRI hurt worse. The first part wasn't bad.I actually fell asleep. SNORE. But then the tech came in and said we need to tape your toes together to keep your hip in the right position for the next part. Well lets talk about pain. My hip doesn't do that any more. I was crying for the whole second part. Lots of prayers were going on. I'm sure thats how I survived. :) It was so difficult. I almost called her but I didn't want to prolong it. Can you believe for about thirty min. AGH. And now I just wait. We went camping to Lake Cochiti. Oh what fun. We went fishing and spent some good family time. Lil D was so great. And now guess what hes lost his first tooth. With alot of pain from an incomong six year molar. Poor little guy. Pictures to follow. Well lunch is over. Hope all is well out there, gotta go

Friday, June 23, 2006

Well Ill be going to California for one whole day. Ive got to go see a QME doctor for a back injury. One of my patients from my last job body slammed me...twice. I still have to use a TENS unit but at least I'm drug free. I had hoped they would just rent me a car so my husband and son could go with. But no its on some crazy plane, all alone. I don't know what I'll do with out the kid or Hunny. HAHA I'm gonna sleep and then sleep some more. Well I'm off work for a few days and my internet at home is down. Tuesday, May 30, 2006

Well its been a long night here in taking a break and so far all of my patients are being good, and sleeping well. Had an interesting Memorial day weekend Worked friday and Saturday night so Sunday I was off. We stayed home and BBQ chicken. My parents took of in the morning and went north and visited a Volcano in N New Mexico. They were celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary. What a great couple. Then today we had friend over and another BBQ(steak this time) YUMMY. then a short nap and off to work. I finally finished the hat for Rs daughter . I swear figuring out how to crochet a little flower took longer than making the hat itself. Im usually a knitter, so the hat was the easy part. R loved it and I'll see Aud in it sometime this week. I also finished the poncho. It turned out good, but I don't know if I've got enough nerve to wear a poncho even with the fringe. But it was good practice. I'm gonna make one for each of my neices. So I guess I had better go shopping for some yarn. Didi-Teal, Bean-dark blue, Monster-purple. Fun Fun Fun. Well breaks over good night:)

Quote for the day

"America is a large, friendly dog in a very small room. Every time it wags its tail, it knocks over a chair." - Arnold Toynbee... Done with the hat but trying to crochet some little flowers to embelish it, Aud gonna love it. Its kinda fun working on a project for a girl. My son doesn't much appreciate cute little hats. Then its back to the poncho. Finished the panels just need to sew it together and add the fringe. Its light country blue. We'll see how it looks. Not sure if its gonna be my color. Might have to send it to Bean in california. She would love it but it might be too big. Just have to wait and see. I guess the next project will be this red scarf kit I bought. Pretty color. Or maybe another baby blanket for K and C,(expecting in less than two weeks.
Well our weather has been hot. 80's. We've been putting in our garden. Have all the seeds germinating on the porch in cut water bottles. And they are growing like crazy. We had our garden in california. So now it will be interesting to see how it is out here in New Mexico. I have been researching alot at the library, on gardening and crop rotation. We've set aside a small 20x20 plot and have tilled and fenced it in. Now just have to add some potting soil and sand to our clay ground, and see what happens. Hopefully its close enough to the house the elk don't break in. It should be interesting. Well I had etter get lunch is over. Have a great day:)

I did not write this but wanted to save the info.
Think Pink Challenge
According to BreastCancer.org, a woman in the United states is diagnosed with breast cancer every two minutes! Over 200,000 new cases of invasive breast cancer are diagnosed each year, along with over 50,000 new cases of non-invasisve breast cancer. Breast cancer is the leacing cancer among white and African-American women, with the latter being more likely to die as a result. With statistics like these, it is very likely that if you're a woman reading this post, you have had, or know of someone who has had, a run-in of one sort or another with this incidious disease. It is terrifying, life-altering, and it cuts to the very core of our womanhood. But at the same time, I never cease to be amazed at the tremendous courage, encouragement and resilience I see from women who are fighting and those who have survived this cruel killer. There is much that needs to be done to fight this disease, and there is no shortage of opportunities to encourage and support those who are fighting it, to celebrate with its survivors and to support efforts to find a cure. Even though October is the official month for increasing Breast Cancer awareness, tell that to women who are diagnosed with this disease in February, May or December. Why wait until October when there are hundreds of thousands of women, their families and friends who are dealing with this dreaded disease at this very moment? There are a number of ways we can help, but there's one in particular that God has laid on my heart. My prayer is that through Soulful Knitting Ministries, we can collectively knit (or crochet) 1,000 pink scarves for women facing breast cancer. By taking the time to knit these scarves, and praying for the health and healing of their recipients in the process, we can make a tremendous difference in the lives of these women. God has shown me an image of a photograph of a mountain of beautiful pink scarves. By knitting this mountain, one scarf at a time, imagine the lives we can touch. So, I invite each of you to participate in the 1st Annual Think Pink Challenge. Here are the parameters:WHAT:A pink scarf (knit or crochet) in the pattern of your choice, using the yarn(s) of your choice.HOW MANY:At least one, but prayerfully, as many as you can between now and the end of September (more details to follow). Imagine if each of us committed to just one scarf a month between now and September! And of course, be sure to tell as many knitters about this as you can... the more the merrier!WHERE:Please send the scarves to me and I will arrange to have them sent to the American Cancer Society in time for their October Awareness drive. Besides, by sending them to me, I can have that photograph of the pink mountain taken and posted here! :)
Sydney ThomasSoulful Knitting Ministriesc/o Grace Bay PublishingPO Box 383Sutherland VA 23885Please be sure to include your name, address and e-mail address with your scarf!
SPECIAL NOTE - CALLING ALL DESIGNERS!!!If you'd like to design a special pink scarf for this project, please do so. Be sure to let me know that you have designed it when you send it in... 12 talented knitters could have their scarf pattern featured in a fundraising calender to raise even more money to fight Breast Cancer.
